chalk it up/crazy idea?

i am seriously debating on painting one of my main walls in the living area with black chalkboard paint....
before you gasp and say 'what? is she crazy?' know this... yes i am crazy and yes... i tend to think outside the lines of the 'normal' person....
ok with that being said please try to keep an open mind lol. my main issue with my living area is it is small and dark. the previous owners painted a dark mousse brown color and there is only one main window which is the sliding back door. it lets a lot of light in but when bounced off the dark walls, it just does not seem very cheerful and bright in there and if you know me, you know i am cheerful and bright!

so i am painting my living room walls a lighter color, more like a white but when put up against the white baseboards, is a off white tannish color. the wall i want to paint with the chalkboard paint is directly across the room and i am afraid is the main source of "bounce" for the light... so i am afraid that it may just not be the best wall for the black chalkboard paint. i plan on painting the whole living room the white color and seeing how the light is then before i resort to painting that one wall black. if all else fails, i will paint the entry hallway wall.
my reasoning for a chalkboard wall? well i just think it would be a great conversation piece and friends and family visiting can have fun leaving us messages on the wall, my daughter is a true artist and her chalkboard closet doors are not cutting it and this will save on all the paper she uses  + kids will love to come to my house!
